Moving my life to Kelowna!

That weekend I got all of my worldly possessions in a Uhaul to drive up to Kelowna. My stuff was finally out of Housesitting 1 so they could have more space. I don't have a ton of stuff and loading went quite quickly. It was raining quite a bit and I was worried that the mountain passes were going to be ugly on the roads and I needed to get to my storage locker before 4pm. I had already organized and paid for this before the housesit and didn't know what kind of set up Chris had so it was just easiest to put it in storage.

My friend, Marcia, kindly offered to ride up with me and then unload everything. As we crossed the toll bridge which is just over halfway, we drove under a rainbow and into the sun. The roads were totally clear and my good luck was just continuing and we just made it to the storage locker in time. We were quite tired once we unloaded and got some dinner. Then, it was time to see where I would be living.

My luck just got even better!!!! The house is on a hill with a view of the lake and city. It's huge - around 5000 sq ft so no problems with running into his father. It's like a bachelor heaven. It's got the big hottub, pool table, pinball machines, big screen TV with more DVDs than anyone needs, the big deck with BBQ. He also has a leather lounge chair that massages, heats and the arm of the chair opens up to have drink holders with a cooling system in it. It's ridiculous, but very great. Chris is going to Europe until August!!! That's right. I'm in this beautiful, big house until August and all he wants is maybe some utilities covered!!! I couldn't believe this. Once I get up there, I'll post some pics. There's obviously more than enough room for visitors too. Given my luck I have bought a couple of lottery tickets, but not so lucky there yet :).

Oh yeah, about the guy. Good looking, energetic, friendly, smart etc, but too urban for me. He was mentioning which gym had the best machines with TVs in them. He was being helpful, but it's just not me. I need more of an outdoorsy guy, but hopefully, I have another friend in him in Kelowna.

Housesitting 2

Sounds like a movie now. So I now have an amazing house sit organized for up in Kelowna. One of my clients and his wife have become friends now as well. He came in the morning of the Billy Joel concert for one last tune of his low back. While he was in, he mentioned that his best buddy from Kelowna was visiting in town, but was heading to Europe for a while and maybe I could stay at his place. He had also been trying to set me up with this fellow for a while also, but he was deemed GU - geographically undesireable!! I thought it would be worth talking to him about so he was going to mention it to him that afternoon.

I called the guy, Chris is his name, on the way to the free Billy Joel concert and he was all for me housesitting for him. The only catch was that his father works up in northern BC for a couple of months and then comes back to the house for a week. The house apparantly was big enough that we wouldn't get in each other's way. The place also has hottub!!! Love hottubs!! Chris mentioned that the yard was secluded so that you could run around naked, but I wasn't allowed to with his father:). I could agree to those terms. He was happy to help out a friend of his best buddy and have his house looked after for a while. I was to go up to Kelowna that weekend with my Uhaul to put my stuff in storage so I figured we could meet up then. What luck I've been having!!

Billy Joel....for free!!

A good friend of mine has been dating online and had been chatting with this guy, Jeff. She had determined that she wasn't so keen to meet him after talking with him, but he was persistent. He, then, happened to win tickets to Billy Joel and persuaded her to go with him. I love Billy Joel (also piano music) and told her to let me know how the concert was as he put on a good show a few years ago that I saw. She called me back a couple of hours later and said that he still had a spare ticket. So I was going to Billy Joel for free, on the floor, for my friend's first date with this guy. Bizarre, but I was happy!!!! The concert was pretty good. He didn't have any new album out, but played some of his older songs that weren't so well know. The date didn't go as well as the concert, but I had a great time.
