Spinster

I guess I'm now officially a spinster. I'm thinking back to many years ago when a gal who is 40 years old, single, never been married, no kids is a spinster. I also see a woman who's hair is in a bun, she is not very happy, has a cat and teaches Sunday School. There is nothing wrong with any of these things, but I'm not any of these last things. The Oxford Dictionary describes a spinster as an unmarried woman, typically an older woman beyond the usual age for marriage. There is no "usual" age any more, but I'm definitely beyond the average. Obviously from this post, Pete and I did just break up. We couldn't in our hearts come together on the kid issue. He really doesn't want another one and I'm not quite ready to give it up yet. I'm exhausted from this dramatic turn of events and also very sad. Maybe I'll never have kids. Who knows what is in store for us, but we can't be together right now and honour what we both really want. When will love just be enough???
