Laser Tag

Well I work with a fun bunch of people. Just different than Lynn Valley, but still fun. One of the gals takes her 6 year old for laser tag every Sunday. The clinic owners had organized a big clinic celebration earlier this fall - opened 15 or 20 years, I can't remember - so they hadn't organized a Xmas party. So Lona decided that we were all going to play laser tag and then head to her place afterwards. I had never played before - only paintball. It was lots of fun and much better than paintball. Less messy, but more importantly, less painful. We'll have to go again.

Life in Kelowna and Hockey

Ok folks, I realize it's been a while since I have been in contact, but I've just been getting settled and sleeping sooooooo much. The first week I slept more than I had in a long time. I just got my home Internet hooked up a week ago too. Life has been quite good here so far. I'm getting organized in the big house and loving the hottub:). No pics yet as I haven't got that organized. Chris' dad is here now for a couple of weeks and we get along well so that won't be any problem. Oh yeah, I also found out that Chris is in Poland for a girl so don't get any ideas.

Work has been quite good also. It was slow the first week, but now is very busy so that didn't take too long, but was a little stressful at first since it was a big paycut for the first bit. My very first client happened to be from London, Ontario also and had my father as a high school math teacher!!! What were the odds? I'm now going to a gal's nite with her next week. My social life is picking up - 2 friends!!! My co-workers have also been very welcoming and making sure I'm settling in OK.

My other friend, Kari, has been great at making sure I settle in OK also. Had a couple of nights out with her. One was a gals nite ornament exchange party so I met lots of gals there and even met a new hairdresser and got a free haircut as a draw prize. Kari plays hockey and got the gals on her team to get some of their old equipment together and I'm now playing women's 3 on 3 hockey once a week!!! I've only gone out once and I really sucked as the skates are so different from figure skates. I was falling a lot, but trying hard and had lots of fun. I'll go again this week and I have no excuses not to go as it's right by where I'm staying. I went public skating last week to practice too. The gals are lots of fun and encouraging so I can't think of a better place to start. They even passed me the puck and let me have a breakaway!! I didn't score, but that's OK. It's such a great workout to so I'll play this season and then see.

We got a dump of snow, but most of it has melted. My friend, Angela, was passing through town during the dump of snow so we got up to XC ski at Sovereign Lakes near Vernon. Good early season skiing, but the local XC skiing isn't open yet. Cold, but not much snow:(. Hopefully soon.

Saranne, who owns the clinic in North Vancouver, was so very generous to buy me a flight back to Vancouver for the Xmas party. So I was just there this past weekend and had yet another 40th birthday party to go to. It was very fun and most of my Xmas visiting, shopping, etc is done so I can chill out now. On the way back, my flight was delayed and I ran into my good friend, Lisa, who lives in Victoria. She was just on her way back from Africa where she had been for the past 3-4 weeks on a mission. To check out her cause for AIDS orphans, click here. It was great to see her photos and hear her stories while they were fresh. Glad to be able to see her which I wold have probably missed her had my flight not been delayed.

Overall things are good here. I've been so busy here that I haven't had much chance to miss Vancouver yet, but not missing the rain at all. I'm sure there will be things soon enough, but not yet. I like the quieter pace of life here so far and people seem a little more friendly here also. Anyways, just recovering from a busy year so enjoying some quiet time and rest.
