Driving a Big Rig

Some of you may not know, but Pete, my man, is a Class 1 Instructor and a former long haul trucker. He was doing some side work this week and I went on a couple of runs with him. He was on a dirt road on private land and he had me get in the driver's seat on this flat, straight part. Not exactly what I thought - plus, kinda illegal, but there wasn't anyone else around. He changed the gears, etc and I only drove maybe 50m, but still. I have never done that before - and, don't really need to do it more. It was cool to drive around up really high though. Thanks for the lesson and I did something I never thought I'd do.

Cypress Snowshoeing

I was just down in Vancouver for, yet, another course. Saturday night after my course a group of us met up at Cypress for a night snowshoe. Once I finally got picked up downtown - the street was blocked since I hadn't looked to see that there was a hockey game, monster truck show, opera, plus the UFC fight so getting through downtown was a nightmare. Certainly don't miss the traffic. It was a beautiful clear night which was a surprise since they had forecasted rain/snow that evening. Good to see friends who seem now to think I'm the social planner in Vancouver and I don't even live there:). It was a great night and I do miss snowshoeing and just tramping around in the snow on the mountains where it's quiet and peaceful.
