Revelstoke Road Trip

I just had a great week with my friend, Pete, who was just out visiting from Ontario. We spent a few days up in the Revelstoke area. Camped at Revelstoke Lake at Carnes Creek Rec Site which is beautifully situated right on the water. Campfires were allowed now so that kept us warm:).

Went up to Rogers Pass for a long day of hiking. We were heading up a certain trail that I had been on a few years ago, but we missed the turn and ended up on another trail, which was fine, but shorted than planned. There was a lot of rock past the trail, but cairns led the way up to a beautiful saddle just tot he right of the peak in the photo. It looked like the trail went up and over the ridge and I thought it would hook up with the trail I had initially intended so we went over the saddle, down a steep slope and saw that the trail was over on the next ridge. Being the safety mountain gal that I am, we decided not to travel through a treed valley in bear country and go back over the saddle the way we came. It was a long day and was very tired by the end of it, but it was a beautiful day and quite an adventure. I was thankful that the hot springs were open late to soak our weary muscles. Had to give Pete a story to take home with him:).

Was stormy the next morning and we were tired from the hike so we drove up to Mica Dam and past that to Sprague Bay, just to see where the end of the road went. Could make use of my 4x4 option:). Love my vehicle:). On the way back, we stopped at an RV resort to try to find a small store to get a couple of things. We asked a bunch of people who were outside around a campfire. There wasn't a store, but next thing you know we were around the campfire with these friendly folk and had dinner and lots of laughs. Fun things happen when you don't plan them.

The couple who run the campsite recommended a mountain bike trail - Keystone Standard - so the following day where we had to drive almost above the tree line up 12-15km. It was a beautiful single track along the mountain ridge. I was so stoked!! It was still cloudy, but could still get some great views. My shifter broke and luckily Pete is a bike mechanic extraordinaire so he rigged it up so I could still ride. We didn't make it to the end of the trail where there is a cabin. I have to back and do that trail again for sure.

Our last day was very rainy and gloomy so hot springs here we come!!! Great adventure to end the summer.
